Make Your License Plate Say Something and Do Something!

When you purchase a specialty license plate, whether it is an arts plate, represents your favorite sports team, your favorite charity, you just like the design, or you want to spell out your name so everyone knows it is your car… YOU ARE SUPPORTING THE ARTS! A portion of the funds from every specialty license plate support our local arts community through Tennessee Arts Commission funding.

Don’t have an arts license plate yet? It is very simple to get one and only $35 (and an additional $35 if you want it personalized):

  • If your tags are about to expire, request an arts specialty license plate, or any specialty plate at the County Commission office when you renew your current tags after you have had your car inspected.
  • If your tags are not expired, take your license plate to the nearest County Commision office to trade it for a specialty license plate. Click here for a list of Shelby County locations.

These specialty plates are available to any Tennessee resident registering a private passenger motor vehicle. The annual fee is $35, and a significant portion benefits Tennessee Arts Commission, which in turn benefits all of the arts groups across the state, including Playhouse on the Square.
